The American Biogas Council's Digestate & Digestate-Derived Products Workshop on October 19, 2015 is the third of a series of U.S. workshops aimed at developing a Digestate Standard and Certification Program. Though markets for digestate and digestate-derived products are starting to grow around the world, these digester system products are still dramatically undervalued in the United States. An important component of both the economic and environmental value of biogas systems, the American Biogas Council (ABC) is working to ensure that the value of these products is fully recognized by consumers, regulators, economic markets and other key stakeholders. Seeing product quality certainty, transparency and education as the key to overcoming market barriers to full value realization of digestate, the ABC embarked on development of a digestate standard and certification program in 2013. The program aims to give the key stakeholders in the sale and use of these products standard information about the product and confidence in the safety and efficacy of the product when used pursuant to producer recommendations, thereby increasing recognition of the value of these products across all sectors. This workshop will present work to date by the ABC, plans for future development of the program and solicit feedback from key stakeholders. Few industries are fortunate to have the opportunity to influence the shape and form of standards and regulations to come. Take advantage of this rare opportunity and lend your voice to the development of a valuable guidance tool that will help set the trajectory for growth of the biogas industry in the U.S. Be prepared to roll up your sleeves and participate as we work to develop innovative solutions to digestate related barriers to creating maximum value for digestate and digestate-derived products— this will not be a lecture-style workshop! Join the ABC's workshop on October 19, 2015 to advance development of a digestate standard and certification program to significantly increase the value of digestate and digestate-derived products — a critical component of both the economic and environmental value of biogas systems.

8:30 AM—9:00 AM Workshop Registration

9:00 AM—9:30 AM Introduction, Workshop Overview

Where We've Been, Where We Are, Where We're Going
• Outcome of Fall 2014 & Spring 2015 ABC Workshops to establish classification system for digestate and digestate-derived products • ABC Digestate Task Force work & progress to date
• Vision for the Future & Goals for Today

9:30 AM—12:30 PM Presentation of ABC's Digestate Standard and Certification Program: Goals, Building Blocks, Industry Consensus

Goals: Increase awareness and recognition of the economic and environmental value of digestate and digestate derived products by establishing an industry wide standards for - • Operational Parameters • Testing Methodology • Seal/Stamp/Graphic • Summary Results (of the testing by independent, ABC–approved laboratory) • Recommended Applications Or UsesBuilding Blocks: • Digestate Standard And Testing Protocols: Best Testing Protocols And Practices from Existing Standards, Customized to Digestate • Standard Flow Chart: How The Program Works • Information Sheet: A "Nutritional Label" For Your Digestate • Labels: Adding Value to Program Certified Digestate
